Professor Eva Gilboa-Schechtman

My research focuses on understanding and treatment of anxiety and depression. I am especially fascinated by the ways non-verbal cues and ordinary social rebuffs combine to maintain social anxiety, depression, and low self-esteem. I take a multi-method approach by measuring phenomenological, cognitive, behavioral, and biological indices of emotional responses.

I am also interested in developing and testing effective treatments, and understanding the mechanisms behind their effectiveness. Together with collaborators, I have examined the efficacy of cognitive behavioral and psychodynamic interventions for social anxiety, depression, and post-traumatic stress disorders.

Zohar Klein, Ph.D.

Postdoctoral Fellow

After receiving my B.A., M.A., and Ph.D. in clinical neuropsychology at University of Haifa, I am currently in my first year as a postdoctoral student at Bar-Ilan University. My research is focused on the interaction between biological, cognitive, behavioral and environmental factors in the development and maintenance of anxiety disorders, specifically avoidance learning in pediatric anxiety in an effort to delineate the neural and cognitive underpinning of avoidant behaviors in clinically anxious youth.

I am currently in my second year of a Clinical Internship at Meuhedet Mental Health Clinic in Haifa, providing both psychodynamic and cognitive behavioral psychotherapy to children, teenagers, and adults.

Beyond my clinical internship, I love to play basketball, I love traveling and I am always excited to meet new people and explore new places.

Roy Azoulay, M.A.

PhD Student

I am a clinical psychologist with internship and Master's experience from Bar Ilan University's Psychology Department. My Ph.D. research focuses on how social trauma, particularly status losses like humiliation and demotion, affect well-being and correlate with social anxiety. This journey has introduced me to the captivating realm of clinical evolutionary psychology. In the lab, I delve into wider impacts of status on well-being, crafting a novel status manipulation paradigm and exploring status effects over self-perception and gender dynamics. Beyond psychology, I find joy in crafting fiction, particularly short stories and scripts, alongside cherishing moments with my child.

Dan Hay, M.A.

PhD Student

I am a third year PhD student, and a clinical psychologist in residency. I received my B.A. in Psychology from Bar-Ilan University, and completed my M.A. in Clinical Psychology from Bar-Ilan, as well. My research is in the social involvement from exclusion to over-inclusion, and I am also interested in emotion differentiation and its association with the emotional processing in maladaptive states. In my spare time, I like reading, spending time with friends and family, and my dog.

Sun Bleicher, M.A.

PhD Student

I am a first year PhD student, and a clinical psychologist in residency. I finished my B.A. in cognitive sciences and psychology at Hebrew University, and completed my M.A .in clinical psychology at Bar-Ilan University. I’m interested in studying the Sense of Agency, and the way it ‘behaves’ in different maladaptive psychological phenomena, such as depression, and its interplay with social situations and contexts. The rest of my time is mostly spent reading, writing and spending time with friends.

Noa Perets, M.A.

I am an MA student in the clinical psychology program at Bar-Ilan University. Beforehand, I received my BA, from Reichman University. My research focus on the intricate realm of social exclusion, its traumatic implications and its affective and cognitive aftermath, particularly within the context of social anxiety. In my free time I like draw, read books and spend time with my family.

Raquel Landau, B.A.

Originally from Brazil, I moved to Israel around 6 years ago, and am currently in my last year of the Clinical Psychology Masters at Bar-Ilan. As part of my thesis, I investigate the implications of emotional concordance for both depression assessment and therapy outcome. I am also interested in the nature of psychopathologies such as depression, anxiety, and eating disorders, effectiveness of psychotherapeutic interventions, and variables related to treatment outcome, childhood experiences (e.g.: parent-child relationship, difficulties in emotional regulation, and childhood trauma) and their impact in adulthood, emotion regulation, and factors associated to human resilience. Finally, in my free time, my passions include writing and reading poetry, and connecting to nature.

Itamar Zalkind, B.A.

I am in my second year studying for a master's degree in clinical psychology.I received my bachelor's degree in psychology at the Hebrew University in Jerusalem.I am interested in mental imagery, emotional congruence, and PTSDI enjoy going to the cinema, diving, and traveling.

Barak Simantov, B.A.

I am a first-year Master's degree student in Clinical Psychology. I completed my undergraduate degree at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem, where I studied Psychology and Humanities. I find great interest in researching the therapeutic relationship in psychotherapy and understanding the impact of different interventions (especially those that relate to mentalization, transference patterns, and self-disclosure) on treatment outcomes. In my free time, I enjoy reading as well as bouldering and hiking in nature.

Gal Sananes, B.A.

I'm currently a first-year M.A. student in the Clinical Psychology Program at Bar-Ilan University. I have completed my B.A in Psychology in the Hebrew University of Jerusalem. I am interested in maladaptive cognitive processes involved in social anxiety, especially attention.

Malak Bahus, B.A.

Hello, my name is Malak, I’m doing my masters in clinical psychology in Bar Ilan university, currently in my first year.

I’m researching emotion differentiation in anxiety.

Outside of school I enjoy dancing, traveling and spending time with my family and friends.

Itai Schwarz, B.A.

I am in my first year of a Psychology Master's degree. I graduated with a Bachelor's degree in Psychology and Political Science from Ben Gurion University.
My research revolves around PTSD, focusing on the October 7th events and the influence of media exposure.
In my spare time I play guitar, read books and unsuccessfully train my dog.

Shahar Peri, B.A.

I'm currently in my first year studying for a master's degree in Clinical Psychology. I received my bachelor in psychology and cognitive and neuroscience from the Hebrew University in Jerusalem
I am interested in the cognitive mechanisms behind anxiety disorders and depression.
In my free time I like to read and explore music (and always appreciate new recommendations).

I am a third year undergraduate student at Bar Ilan University, hoping to pursue a graduate degree in clinical psychology. I am interested in psychoanalysis, psychodynamic therapy and clinical research on the subjects of depression and trauma.

Nechama Tannenbaum

I am a third year undergraduate student majoring in psychology and political science. I am specifically interested in the interplay between self-esteem, self-compassion, and social anxiety, as well as the effectiveness of various interventions. In my free time, I like to read, paint, play basketball, and spend time with family and friends.

Noa Atar

I graduated Yeshiva University in 2022 with an undergraduate degree in Psychology and Biology, and moved to Israel right after. I am currently applying for a graduate degree in Psychology, and hope to one day become a clinical psychologist for kids and adolescents.

Daniella Mouadeb

I'm a clinical psychologist who graduated in 2018 in Sao Paulo, Brazil. After my graduation I specialized in Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT) and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT). In 2021 I made aliyah, and here I received my masters' in Clinical and Education psychology. My main research interest areas are in Anxiety Disorders, PTSD and Evidence Based Psychology.
